Mueller's first choice at Chur Farm-Farm Week

MUELLER enjoys an unparalleled reputation for the quality, efficiency, durability and reliability of its milk cooling technology.

Mueller tanks are made of polished stainless steel, which is seamless and meets high specifications. They are available in three models-thin oval design O-shaped, narrow circular P-shaped and vertical silo. Each model has a variety of sizes, and has a waterproof outer container, adjustable legs and a lockable outlet.

“With decades of experience, Mueller has been rated as one of the best-selling bulk refrigeration systems on the world market,” explains Cecil Wilson, a local agent from Wilson Milk Tanks in Antrim County.

"The company's bulk milk cooler is designed to combine rapid cooling with low energy consumption. Its patented HiPerForm cooling technology can reduce electricity consumption by up to 27%, which is unparalleled in terms of energy efficiency."

The series also has a "quick wash" cleaning cycle, making it the first choice for farms using robotic milking technology.

Cecil added: "Robots are rapidly becoming popular. Mueller cooling vessels are fully compatible with robotics technology, and the company's MIII device is designed to work with robots."

For more than 15 years, Muller has been the number one choice for Dwok Kuhl Farm in County Antrim.

The farm is owned by Johnston and Marlene McKay, who are cooperating with their nephew Christopher McKernan to operate the farm, owning 110 commercial cows and producing milk for Lakeland Dairies.

The herd is dominated by Holstein genetics. The average annual milk production of dairy cows exceeds 10,000 liters, with a milk fat content of 4.20% and a protein content of 3.38%.

Coole Farm’s dairy plant was upgraded eight months ago. The modernization project included the installation of two robotic milking machines and the purchase of 10,000-liter Mueller O tanks equipped with MIII control panels.

"Mueller is our first choice. Wilson Milk Tanks provides reliable and efficient backup services. The new tank is friendly to farmers and allows us to collect milk the next day," Christopher explained. "All I do is check the chemicals. Everything is fully automatic. The water tank cools the milk and controls the temperature."

He added: "I like the underfill system, which means there is no foam accumulation in the tank. The washing cycle is also fast and efficient, and it is fully compatible with the robot system. The robot and the tank talk to each other-it's a clever operation!"

The Muller water tank at Coole Farm is located outside the dairy. "For our existing dairy products, it is too big, so we chose an outdoor location. The milk outlet valve and control panel can be easily accessed from inside the dairy factory," Christopher added.

Cecil added: “The refurbished water tank comes with a one-year warranty and is equipped with Mueller’s digital E-Star HiPerForm system. This is the perfect match for robotic milking. The electronic valve reduces the capacity and allows a small amount of milk to be cooled immediately. "

As energy costs have risen, Kuhl Farm has also benefited from the physical and financial benefits of Muller's heating and cooling equipment. The system heats the water by converting the waste heat generated by the condenser of the milk cooler.

Cecil explained: "Fre-Heater is the result of extensive research and development. It has a wide range of uses and can be installed on any brand of new or existing milk cooling system. It has a compact design and can heat water to 58°C. This is useful for cleaning milking equipment and large tanks and for feeding calves."

Fre-Heater comes with a five-year warranty and is available in two models, including a heavy-duty glass-lined storage tank surrounded by Mueller’s stainless steel Temp-Plate heat transfer surface for maximum thermal efficiency. There are two inches of foam around the Temp-Plate surface to keep the heat in the water tank. The entire assembly is installed in a rust-proof and maintenance-free stainless steel housing.
