Samsung Electronics has issued an official apology for the recent series of glass door breakage of its drum washers and started to provide free door replacement services.

“Recently, there have been cases where the door glass of some Samsung Electronics drum washing machine models came off due to poor adhesion,” the company said in an apology posted on the websites of Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electronics Service. “We sincerely apologize to customers for troubles and inconveniences.”

A consumer wrote on an internet community, "I purchased a Samsung Electronics drum washing machine four months ago. The glass door of the washing machine fell to the floor and broke while it was running.” As related news reports spread, the Korea Consumer Agency and the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards sent official letters on Aug. 17 calling on Samsung Electronics to explain the matter.

Accordingly, Samsung Electronics had talks with the Consumer Agency and the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards and decided to provide a free door replacement service. The free service will cover Samsung drum washers produced in Korea from September 2021 to May 2022.
