Sevindik, who shared her experiences with the AA correspondent during and after the flood that affected the Keçiören district, explained that Busenur Doğanay, who lost her life in the flood disaster on the same day, was caught in her house a few streets away from the building where she lived.

Sevindik stated that the house he lived in had been flooded twice before, he had a bed to sleep on and an armchair to sit on, and that he lost everything that evening.

Sevindik stated that the water in his apartment, one floor below the entrance, had exceeded the windows and said that he wanted to leave the house by taking his bag, but the dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator and kitchen counter were overturned and closed the doors.

Expressing that he was able to get out of the house with the effort of his neighbor, who was running to help at that time, Sevindik said that he came back from the dead. Explaining that it is not possible for even a person who can swim well to swim in that water, Sevindik said that he went into shock afterwards and that he received treatment at Keçiören Training and Research Hospital for a while.

Sevindik stated that on his return from the hospital, he saw that the mud was partially cleaned by the municipality teams, that his belongings that had become unusable were bagged and piled aside, and that he had been washing the mud of his personal belongings for 2 months.

Hacer Sevindik explained that there were no glass and frames in her home, she slept on the bed she made on the parcels, and she took her bath with cold water with a hose she pulled into the toilet. Sevindik stated that he retired from a public institution and has been living as a tenant in the same house since 1997, and that his 3 children did not help him.

Sevindik said that during the flood, the remaining few copies of his poetry book, “From My Heart”, which included the poems he wrote, were also worn out and said that this made him very sad.

Sevindik stated that he never received help from anyone because of his pride at any stage of his life, that the municipality teams did damage assessment after the flood, but no official has reached him until today. Sevindik expressed that she wanted to renew her unusable belongings and to start a new life with her friends living in İzmir.
